Sports Ministry, Nestlé Ghana to collaborate on grassroots sports & youth empowerment

The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, met with the leadership of Nestlé Ghana, led by their Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Salomé Azevedo, at his office in Accra last week.

The meeting between the two parties was to explore stronger collaboration on grassroots sports development and youth empowerment.

According to a Facebook post by Hon. Adams, he described Nestlé as an iconic Milo brand that has consistently supported school and community sports across the country.

He believes that Nestlé’s new initiative, “Building Champs,” will deepen this impact by using sport to teach children teamwork, discipline, and good nutrition.

Nestlé, as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) for sports, primarily focuses on youth development through its Milo brand and the Healthy Kids Programme, which combines nutrition education with physical activity like athletics and football.

The launch for the 2025 edition of the U-13 National Championship will take place at the Paa Joe Stadium on 6th December 2025, with the official launch marked for 14th November.

Hon. Adams, who doubles as the MP for Buem, stated that, “Government is committed to working with corporate partners like Nestlé through the Sports Development Fund, which will provide incentives for private investment in sports and recreation.”

He added that, “Together, we are shaping a generation of confident, healthy, and purpose-driven young Ghanaians.”
