The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Upper Denkyira West, Hon. Isaac Nsiah, continues to improve the quality of education as he commissioned a brand-new kindergarten block for the Modaso Roman Catholic Basic School, turning a new page for local pupils.
The new Kindergarten block, equipped with classrooms, furniture, a restroom, an office, and a kitchen, will provide a safe, modern, and child-friendly environment that enhances early childhood education and expands access to foundational learning.
Speaking at the ceremony on Tuesday, Hon. Isaac Nsiah reaffirmed his commitment to improving educational infrastructure and completing outstanding projects across the district.
He disclosed plans for additional educational infrastructure to further boost the sector and reiterated the government’s determination to eliminate schools operating under trees.
Hon. Nsiah seized the opportunity to announce an award scheme to recognize schools that demonstrate excellence in maintaining their infrastructure, emphasizing the need for a strong maintenance culture and community ownership.
He expressed appreciation to the traditional authorities, community members, and other stakeholders for their cooperation and for serving as responsible watchdogs until the project is completed.
The District Education Director, Mr. Nana Kusi, also commended the government for the initiative and stressed the need for continuous investment in educational infrastructure.
He called on school authorities and communities to develop a strong maintenance culture to ensure the facilities serve their intended purpose for many years.
He further highlighted other government interventions benefiting pupils, including the provision of sanitary pads, school furniture, and mosquito nets, noting that approximately 1,080 pupils were benefiting from the initiative.
A representative who spoke on behalf of the Church, Speaking on behalf of the Church, Rev. Father Finn, thanked the government for the project and appealed for additional infrastructure to further improve teaching and learning.
He also urged the community to take responsibility in ensuring good maintenance.
The ceremony was graced by the Traditional Council, Assembly Members and staff, school authorities, parents, contractors, and other stakeholders.
