The Ghanaian female quartet of Aisha Jaffa, Gladys Boateng Gaza,’ Adelaide Fosuaa, and Leticia Obenewaa settled for bronze in the final of the 4×100 relay, missing out on gold, which eventually went to Nigeria in the ongoing African Senior Athletics Championship.

The team anchored by Aisha Jaffa recorded a time of 44.85 to place third in lane two of the final.

The four athletes, largely made up of senior high school runners, defied all odds to put up an impressive performance.

In the men’s category of the 4x100m relay, Ghana surrendered their continental crown after settling for bronze at the 2026 African Athletics Championships.

The team, which had Joseph Paul Amoah, Abdul Rasheed Saminu, Ibrahim Fuseini, and Edwin Gadayi, finished behind rivals Nigeria and champions Ivory Coast in a fiercely contested final and finished at a time of 38.74.

Ghana entered the final as one of the favorites after posting the joint-fastest qualifying time alongside Nigeria.

However, when the race exploded into life, it was Ivory Coast who stole the spotlight.
