Rapper Sarkodie has announced plans to intensify efforts to address legal challenges in Ghana’s creative industry in 2027, with a focus on protecting artists and investors.
He said clear legal frameworks and properly documented agreements were necessary to prevent disputes and build confidence among stakeholders in the industry.
Sarkodie made the remarks during the 2026 Kumasi Rising Summit’s Music, Media and Tourism Dialogue at the Great Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
The dialogue, held under the theme “Positioning the Creative Economy: Shaping Kumasi’s Future,” forms part of activities leading up to the 2026 Rapperholic concert, scheduled to climax on Saturday.

According to the rapper, many disagreements in the creative industry could be better managed if artists and investors understood their contractual obligations before entering into business arrangements.
He noted that written agreements were important in clarifying the rights and responsibilities of all parties, helping to protect both those who create artistic works and those who invest in them.
Sarkodie said disagreements could arise in any sector, but proper documentation and legal processes could help prevent misunderstandings from escalating into disputes.

He added that the industry needed to pay greater attention to its legal and commercial structures to create a safer environment for investment and sustainable growth.
The planned focus on legal issues in 2027, he said, would form part of efforts to strengthen the business side of Ghana’s creative industry.
