Award-winning Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has been appointed an ambassador of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
The appointment was announced during a visit to the Kumasi-based university as part of activities ahead of his Rapperholic concert in the Ashanti Regional capital.
KNUST Vice-Chancellor, Professor Christian Agyare, also presented the musician with a special souvenir reserved for Very Very Important Persons (VVIPs) who visit the university.

The plaque features an artistic representation of the university’s entrance in the form of a traditional stool. It also depicts Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, whose donation of land contributed to the establishment of the institution.
Explaining the appointment, Prof. Agyare said the university was seeking to expand its influence beyond academic excellence.
“We are moving from excellence to eminence, and we need people like you on board,” he said.
Sarkodie’s visit also offered students an opportunity to interact with the musician ahead of the concert.
The university’s Students’ Representative Council (SRC) pledged to support the rapper at Rapperholic, suggesting a strong student presence at the event.
Sarkodie arrived in Kumasi on Monday and received a warm welcome as anticipation builds for the Kumasi edition of Rapperholic.
