It’s my biggest challenge, and I’m ready for it – Queiroz speaks on his new role

Newly appointed head coach of the Black Stars, Carlos Queiroz, has admitted that taking up the role as the new gaffer of Ghana is the biggest challenge of his managerial career.

According to the Portuguese, he is keen and ready for the task ahead as he prepares to lead the four-time AFCON winners to their fifth Mundial in his over four decades of coaching.

Speaking at his unveiling on Thursday in Accra, Queiroz said, “I might say that this is the biggest challenge of my managerial career, and I’m ready for that.”

Queiroz, 73, also backed the Black Stars to qualify, stating that Ghana has the talent required to build a formidable team for the tournament.

“Ghana has the talent, and I’m confident we can assemble a good team for the World Cup,” he added.

The former Manchester United assistant coach was named the new coach in April 2026 on a four-month contract, replacing Otto Addo.
