Many residents of Ashaiman have highly commended the New Crystal Hospital for its exceptional delivery of National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) services, marking a significant shift in the quality of affordable healthcare available in the municipality and surrounding communities.
For many, the hospital’s upgraded approach has brought much-needed relief to thousands of cardholders.
New Crystal Hospital, under the insurance scheme, has shown dedication to providing top-tier treatment, dignified customer service, and a reliable drug supply and has made it the preferred healthcare destination in the district.
Also, the NHIS under the leadership of Dr. Victor Bampoe as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) has earned praise from many for introducing reforms and workplace wellness initiatives that strengthen partnership with private healthcare providers.
The health facility in April rolled out a community-wide initiative dubbed “Ashaiman Rising in Good Health,” which is geared toward combating Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and improving health access for residents by December 2026.
The project is expected to have over 50,000 residents in Ashaiman provided with free health screening for hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and kidney-related diseases in various communities.
In a video interview posted by a blog (Nass Gh), which was cited by KobbyKyeinews, a woman expressed excitement after receiving free treatment with her NHIS card.
“I came with my active NHIS card, and I was treated well, and I did not pay for the services rendered,” she said.
“I have been visiting New Crystal Hospital for the past nine years, and I delivered my first child here. Though not every treatment is fully covered by the NHIS card, you don’t spend much money for those treatments with an active NHIS card as compared to previous. I will recommend them for their good health delivery and patient satisfaction,” another woman happily shared.
In another video interview posted by the blog (Voice of Tema), an aged woman shared her experience when she visited New Crystal Hospital.
“I did not pay any money for consulting the doctor; staying on admission and drug administration were all free with my active NHIS card. I’m grateful to the hospital’s CEO and the current government for improving the quality of health care,” she added.
A nurse (Faustina Nartey) at the Afenyo Branch explained how active NHIS card holders will receive free medical treatment, while urging non-card holders to register for one at all New Crystal Hospital branches.
“When you visit any of our branches nationwide with your active NHIS card, treatment is absolutely free from consultation to laboratory test. You only pay when treatment goes beyond the NHIS as required by a doctor. But for drug administration, admission, and consultation, they are all free.” She said in a video interview with the blog (Harvey News Update).
