The Sultan Cares Foundation has officially kicked off a free health screening initiative in Ashaiman, offering critical medical checkups to the first 100 residents in the Nii Annan Adjor Electoral Area on Saturday.
The community outreach program aims to boost health literacy, provide early detection for common ailments in the municipality, and improve health access for residents.
Residents in and around the electoral area were screened for non-communicable diseases, including hypertension, diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, and kidney-related conditions.
The Free Health Screening is one of the key projects under the Sultan Cares Foundation, an initiative committed to supporting and empowering people across the Ashaiman Community through practical interventions that improve lives and create opportunities.
Individuals had firsthand patient and health professional consulting and medication while providing intensive public health education.
Briefing the media during the event, the founder of Sultan Cares, Mr. Sultan Iddrisu said the initiative is a collective action to build Ashaiman, while they wait for no political gimmicks and empty promises.
According to him, 300 persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Ashaiman will also receive their share of the free health screening, including the aged, market women, drivers, and motorbike drivers.
One of the beneficiaries, who spoke on condition of anonymity, thanked Sultan Cares for the kind gesture, emphasizing that he was screened and treated free.
“It is absolutely free, and there is nothing political here. It is a good initiative by Sultan Cares, and we ask that he grow to continue to give back to the community,” he said.
All persons screened were given free medication with a “thank you” package.
The next stage will have another 100 beneficiaries in the Asensuba suburb screened by health officials, as the project will be extended to various communities until the 700 beneficiaries target are met.
The Sultan Cares, as part of its mission, will in the coming weeks introduce a Skills Acquisition Program in Ashaiman, where 10-20 young people will be selected and equipped with opportunities for self-reliance.
The project seeks to provide entrepreneurship skills and training while creating livelihood opportunities to contribute towards the fight against unemployment.
