Two influential businessmen in Ashaiman, Alhaji Abdul Rahim Haruna, popularly known as Dagomba Boy, and Alhaji Soler, have sponsored the highly anticipated inter-tribal unity event between the Moshie and Dagomba clans in Ashaiman with a whopping GH₵100,000.
Dubbed “United Beyond Sports,” the day event, which is slated for Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the St. Mary’s International School, is set to renew the bond of friendship and cultural harmony between the two clans.
Also, to preserve shared ancestral heritage, resolve historical rivalries, and promote sustainable peace.
These celebrations strengthen communal ties, boost local socio-economic growth, and serve as platforms for youth empowerment and national stability.
The one-day event, which commences at 10:00am, promises a full day of exciting activities, including a rich cultural display from both clans, local games, and the much-talked-about football game between the two communities.
Participants and attendees will be treated to rich cultural dance activities, cultural food exhibitions, and a fashion showcase.
These activities do much more than provide entertainment; they are vital pillars of cultural preservation that establish identity, promote community unity, strengthen heritage among younger generations, and pass down indigenous knowledge.
Speaking ahead of the occasion, a member of the organizing committee, Mr. Yakubu Mohammed, said the event, which is held annually, has taken a different twist because of the bragging rights between the two clans.
He added the two financiers are also eager to rally their support for their respective clans, hence calling on all Dagombas and Moshies to be present.
Mr. Yakubu added that both clans will be presented with cash prizes and other souvenirs, while a portion of the prize money will be kept for subsequent events.
The program is expected to be graced by high-profile personalities, including the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ashaiman, Ernest Norgbey; the MCE for Ashaiman, Freeman Tsekpo; chiefs for both clans; and the chief of Ashaiman, Nii Annang Adzor III.
Other personalities are businessman and politician Emmanuel Mefful, representatives from the Ministry of the Chieftaincy and Regional Affairs, and community leaders, among others.
