World Cup 2026: Government will ensure smooth visa process for Ghanaians – Felix Ofosu Kwakye assures

The Minister of Communications at the Presidency, Felix Ofosu Kwakye has assured Ghanaians the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) will ensure a smooth process for visa acquisition ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to him, the government has the interest of Ghanaians at all times, hence owes it a duty to ensure a stress free visa process without hindrance.

With the Black Stars set to mark their fifth appearance at the Mundial which will be held in USA, Mexico and Canada respectively, Ghanaians are expected to storm the US Embassy in their numbers in their quest to secure visa.

With new directives from the US Embassy, most believe the process will be more difficult and stressful as compared to the other countries.

However, the Minister who doubles as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese mentioned that, the government through the Foreign Ministry have engaged all necessary authorities in these countries to ensure Ghanaians go through a smooth process to acquire their visa.

Speaking to Joy Sports, Hon. Ofosu Kwakye said “As a government, we have the duty to at all times look out for the interest of the people of Ghana. So the foreign ministry has acted proactively by engaging the necessary authorities in the host countries to ensure that the visa acquisition processes for Ghanaians are smooth and without hindrance”.

Quizzed if the series of meetings with all authorities will prove successful, he stressed his happiness on the progress made, “My engagement with the Foreign Minister indicates that it went well, and that he’s happy about the progress that has been made. And I’m sure that in the coming days we should hear more about it”, he added.

Ghana will get to know their opponents when FIFA conducts the official draw on December 5, in Washington DC, USA.

The Black Stars of Ghana emerged leaders in Group I with 25 points, securing 8 wins, a defeat and one draw in 10 games.

The four-time African Champions first marked their debut on the World Stage in 2006 and went on to feature in the 2010, 2014 and 2022 editions.
