Promising Ghanaian sprinter Gladys Boateng, popularly known as Gaza, has asked Ghanaians and everyone to rally behind her as she prepares to race for another medal in the ongoing African Senior Athletics Championship, Accra.
Boateng was part of Ghana’s women’s 4x100m relay team that secured bronze in the final after a determined performance against some of the continent’s top sprint nations.
The team finished with a time of 44.85, where Gladys was the finisher in lane two.
Speaking after the race, the teenager expressed joy after winning her first international medal for Ghana, adding that with her next race in the women’s 200-meter race, she aims to replicate another victory.
“I have another race, and I will need the support of everyone to add more medals to what I already have.” Glady said.
Gaza admitted the team had doubts about finishing on the podium but was grateful to end the competition with a medal.
“We were not confident of winning a medal, but we are glad we won, and we give thanks to God,” she added.
The bronze medal marks a major milestone in Boateng’s young career and highlights her growing importance in Ghana’s sprint team.
