Jordan Nwora Foundation Tips Off Elite Basketball Training Camp

The Jordan Nwora Foundation, in collaboration with FIBA Africa Zone 3, is hosting a three-day Elite Basketball Camp at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra from May 16–18, 2026, aimed at grooming the next generation of African basketball talent.

The camp is being led by experienced coach Alex Nwora of the Jordan Nwora Foundation and has attracted top basketball administrators, including Col. Samuel Ahmedu, president of FIBA Africa Zone 3, and Alex Kukula, president of the Ghana Basketball Association, alongside executives from the Accra basketball community.

Designed primarily for Under-16 players and below, the camp has brought together about 100 young participants, including selected players and coaches from various regions across Ghana. The program focuses not only on basketball fundamentals and advanced skills but also on mentorship, leadership development, inclusion, and career guidance, reinforcing the role of sport as a tool for holistic youth development.

Speaking to the media, Col. Samuel Ahmedu expressed delight at the standard displayed by the young athletes. “I am impressed with the level of skill from the kids. Their commitment and attitude are top-notch, and I am certain the next African star might be coming from here.”

GBA President Alex Kukula also welcomed the partnership, highlighting its long-term impact on Ghana basketball. “We are happy with the collaboration between FIBA and the Jordan Nwora Foundation. This initiative will help our players greatly, and our target is to build future national youth teams through such training camps.”

Coach Salorm Thomas, who is part of the technical team, praised the mindset of the young players. “All I see from the kids is their readiness to learn and improve on whatever they already know about basketball.”

All participants and coaches were kitted in branded jerseys, with basketballs provided to ensure a professional and engaging training environment throughout the camp.
