Following Asante Kotoko’s exit from the CAF Confederation Cup, the Porcupine Warriors have returned to winning ways with a resounding 4-2 win over Karela United at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.
A brace from Hubert Gyau with a goal each from Seth Kwadwo and Peter Amidu Acquah sealed the third victory of the season for Kotoko.
The visitors scored through Bless Ege and Abdul Raman Yaya.
Kotoko started brightly with intense pressure on their opponents and quickly broke the deadlock in the 6th minute.
Midfielder Seth Kwadwo sent a long pass to Saaka Dauda, who delivered a decent cross into the penalty area.
With a superb half-volley, Hubert Gyau connected perfectly to put Kotoko ahead.
Minutes after, Karela responded with Bless Ege’s spot kick in the 17th minute following a defensive lapse from goalie Mohammed Camara.
Kotoko restored their lead from Gyau’s thunderous shot outside the penalty box in the 22nd minute to register his brace.
Looking to cement their dominance, Kotoko scored the third when Seth Kwadwo scored from a clean header with 10 minutes left to play in the first half.
Back from recess, Peter Amidu Acquah placed the icing on the cake with Kotoko’s fourth in the 61st minute before the visitors snatched a late goal in the 70th minute by Abdul Raman Yaya.
