Black Stars’ new head coach, Carlos Queiroz, says Ghana has the potential of becoming a nation of champions.
According to the Portuguese trainer, that will only become a reality and achievement if we manage the present and future generation of players.
Speaking at his official unveiling on Thursday, the former Manchester United assistant coach argued that Ghana is not only a country with footballers.
“Ghana is a country of footballers, and the day we manage both the present and the future, it will not only be a country of footballers but a country of champions.”
Queiroz, 73, admitted that taking up the role as Ghana’s new coach is the biggest of his managerial career.
With over four decades as a gaffer, Queiroz emphasized that he is ready for the task ahead.
“I might say that this is the biggest challenge of my managerial career, and I’m ready for that,” he added.
Carlos Queiroz was named Ghana’s new coach in April 2026 as a replacement for Otto Addo following his poor run of results in the just-ended international friendlies, losing to Germany and Austria, respectively.
Queiroz will serve a short term (4 months) per his contract details.
