At 5:30am this morning, the GNFS Rescue Team was dispatched to an accident scene in front of the NDC Regional Office in Cape Coast on the Accra-Cape Coast Highway.
The accident involved a stationary Man Diesel truck with registration number WR 1546-V and Mecedes Sprinter with registration number CR 623-25 that was travelling towards Cape Coast.



The fire rescue team on arrival, extricated three trapped victims from the mangled vehicle and one was confirmed dead. The other eighteen victims were assisted by the rescue team and the National Ambulance Service and conveyed to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.
According to eyewitness the Man Diesel truck which was parked on the road due to mechanical fault and was run in to by the Sprinter Minibus that was overtaking other vehicle.
The twenty victims suffered different degrees of injuries and one woman was pronounced dead.
The National Ambulance Service, National Road Safety Authority and the Ghana Police Service collaborated in managing the situation.
