Chayil SecureX Partners Fanaka International University College to Intensify Cybersecurity Education in Ghana

Cybersecurity giant Chayil SecureX has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Fanaka International University College to strengthen cybersecurity education and awareness in Ghana as the country grapples with a sharp rise in cybercrime.

The partnership seeks to equip individuals, businesses, and institutions with the knowledge and skills needed to protect themselves against emerging cyber threats and contribute to a safer digital environment.

Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony, the Rector of Fanaka International University College, Professor Samuel Agyei-Amponsah, urged Ghanaians to take cybersecurity education seriously to reduce the growing risks associated with the country’s expanding digital economy.

He noted that Ghana has witnessed a significant increase in cybersecurity incidents, with reported cases surging by 52 percent year-on-year. According to him, cybercriminals are increasingly exploiting digital platforms through sophisticated attacks, including mobile money fraud, phishing, identity theft, and other forms of online scams.

Professor Agyei-Amponsah warned that the consequences of cybercrime extend beyond financial losses, posing serious threats to individuals, organisations, and national security. He stressed that improving cybersecurity awareness through education is one of the most effective ways to build resilience against cyber threats.

He said the collaboration between Fanaka International University College and Chayil SecureX would provide practical cybersecurity education, training, and awareness programmes aimed at preparing students, professionals, and the general public to identify and respond to evolving cyber risks.

Chief Executive Officer of Chayil SecureX, Charles Fiifi Hagan, expressed excitement about the partnership, describing it as a timely intervention in Ghana’s digital transformation journey.

He said cybersecurity should be regarded as a national priority, adding that a lack of awareness leaves many individuals and institutions vulnerable to cyberattacks.

Mr. Hagan noted that the partnership would focus on building cybersecurity capacity through education, public awareness campaigns, and professional training to help safeguard Ghana’s digital ecosystem.

He expressed confidence that the collaboration would help create a more cyber-aware society and reduce the growing threat posed by cybercriminals, which could have serious implications for national security if left unchecked.

The partnership underscores the commitment of both institutions to promoting cybersecurity education as an essential component of Ghana’s digital development agenda and ensuring that citizens are equipped to navigate the digital space safely and responsibly.
