The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ahanta West Municipal Assembly, Engineer Ebenezer Aidoo, has hinted that the Assembly will soon embark on a decongestion exercise in Agona Nkwanta after the disilting exercise. He disclosed this on Joy News on Monday, June 16, 2025, in an interview with Samuel Kojo Brace.
He noted that the decongestion exercise will improve traffic flow and reduce congestion in the main street of Agona Nkwanta, potentially focusing on removing unauthorised structures and street vendors from the pavements. This, according to him, will enhance urban mobility and sanitation in the area.
The MCE told Samuel Kojo Brace that, vendors on the pavement will be relocated to designated areas, ensuring pedestrian and vehicular traffic can move freely.
Engineer Ebenezer Aidoo also hinted that the Assembly is looking for space to construct bus terminals to ensure vehicles are parked in designated areas to load, so that traffic flow is not obstructed by unauthorised parking or other activities.
He reiterated that the goal of the disilting and the decongestion exercise is to create a more organised and efficient environment for residents and commuters in Agona Nkwanta.
To drive the tourism potential at Busia and Dixcove enclaves, Hon Ebenezer Aidoo disclosed that, the Agona Nkwanta roundabout to Dixcove road will be asphalted by the end of December 2025.
