Over 300 Final-Year Students Benefit from BECE Sensitization Program in Mantseman Electoral Area

Over 300 final-year students preparing for the 2026 Basic Education Certification Examination (BECE) attended the Sensitization and Orientation Program held in the Mantseman Electoral Area of the Ashaiman Constituency on Friday, April 24, at the Adonai International Ministry, Lebanon Zone 2.

The day event put together by Unit Committee Member of the Mantseman Electoral Area, Sir Moses Seyram Avadetsi, was to equip students with strategies to answer questions in core subject areas.

As first-timers, candidates were also oriented on guidance and counseling sessions relating to courses to be studied and their corresponding opportunities.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Mubarak A-Hassan, a Mathematics Coordinator & Municipal Training Officer of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Ashaiman Municipal Directorate, urged students to stay focused, adding that they must understand the question and be ready to answer it when choosing.

He stressed that students should show all working steps clearly, as marks are often awarded for process, not just the final answer.

Mr. Nyereba Kwesi Samuel, a proven English Language examiner who doubles as the Director of GISAM College, stated that students should use the right tenses in constructing sentences and answering questions.

He added that words should be spelled out correctly and they should carefully follow instructions as obliged.

Speaking at the program, Mr. Bruce Kwaku, a Science Facilitator, said students should highlight key information and use precise scientific vocabulary.

Adding that, they should structure answers with clear, logical steps—linking evidence to concepts, answering all parts of the question, and using diagrams where necessary to show cause-and-effect relationships.

To conclude, Mr. Justice Selorm Balie, a Social Studies Tutor, advised candidates to prepare adequately by studying major topics like the environment, social development, and government.

He noted that for essays, students must use structured paragraphs to explain each point clearly and make their points clear and relevant to the question to avoid wasting time.

Mr. Balie advised students to take time to fully understand what is being asked before starting to write, adding that they should make sure to fully explain points, especially for higher-mark questions.

The conveyor for the event, Mr. Avadetsi, said the initiative will be held annually as plans are underway to extend it to senior high schools within the constituency.

He lauded the support of the Member of Parliament for Ashaiman, Dr. Ernest Norgbey; the Municipal Chief Executive, Honorable Freeman Tsekpo; and the District Education Directorate.

He reaffirmed his commitment to ensure the Mantseman Electoral Area benefits from more community initiatives, calling on benevolent organizations and individuals to support them.

Students and other participants were refreshed at the end of the event.
