Jonina Ladies’ impressive defensive record in the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League Southern Zone finally came to an end on Matchday Seven, yet the leaders showed their resilience by holding on for a thrilling 2–1 win over FC Samartex Ladies on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at the Auntie Aku AstroTurf.
Having gone through the opening weeks of the league season without conceding, Jonina were breached for the first time when Abigail Akwetey struck in the 68th minute to draw Samartex level.
