The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by Hon. Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwah has announced that an impressive 8,463 Ghanaians have successfully received their new chip-embedded passports via courier since the implementation of the Reset Passport Reforms on April 28, 2025.

This initiative aims to enhance the efficiency and accessibility of passport services across the nation.

According to official data from the Passport Head Office, this groundbreaking reform has allowed citizens to receive their passports conveniently at no extra cost, marking a pivotal shift in how passport applications are processed in Ghana.

The introduction of chip-embedded technology not only improves security but also streamlines identification processes for international travel.

Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa expressed his satisfaction with the progress made under this reform.

He emphasized the importance of making passport acquisition more accessible to all Ghanaians and pledged continued efforts to improve service delivery within the ministry.

“This initiative is a testament to our commitment to enhancing the travel experience for Ghanaians. We believe that every citizen should have easy access to a passport without the burden of additional charges,” Ablakwa stated.

The successful rollout of these passports comes at a time when international travel is becoming increasingly vital for economic growth and cultural exchange.

With many Ghanaians eager to explore opportunities abroad, this reform is poised to encourage more citizens to travel internationally.

As the government continues to implement further improvements in passport services, Ghanaians are optimistic about the future of travel and identification within the country.
