The Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG) has donated relief items to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and the Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly to support victims affected by the devastating floods that struck parts of Accra on June 29.
The donation forms part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility efforts aimed at providing relief to families and communities displaced by the disaster. The items are expected to complement ongoing humanitarian interventions being coordinated by NADMO and the municipal assembly.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony, the Managing Director of Consolidated Bank Ghana, Dr. Naomi Wolali Kwetey, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to supporting communities in times of crisis. She emphasized that CBG remains dedicated to working closely with the National Disaster Management Organisation to provide continued assistance to those affected by the floods.
Dr. Kwetey noted that the bank recognizes the devastating impact of natural disasters on livelihoods and believes it has a responsibility to contribute to national efforts aimed at alleviating the suffering of affected residents.
Receiving the donation, Director General of NADMO, Major (Rtd) Dr. Joseph Bikanyi Kuyon, and Chief Executive of the Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly, Hon. Kalamu Adamu Musah expressed appreciation to Consolidated Bank Ghana for the timely intervention. They described the support as a significant contribution to ongoing relief efforts and encouraged other corporate institutions to emulate the bank’s gesture.
The June 29 floods caused widespread destruction across several parts of Accra, displacing residents, damaging property, and disrupting economic activities. Authorities continue to assess the extent of the damage while providing relief and support to affected communities.
CBG’s intervention underscores the vital role of public-private partnerships in disaster response and highlights the importance of collective efforts in helping vulnerable communities recover from emergencies.
