The Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly (CCMA), under the leadership of the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. George Justice Arthur, has donated 50 chairs and two dustbins to the Oguaa Traditional Area to support activities at the Oguaa Paramount Palace.
The items were presented to the Palace as part of the Assembly’s efforts to support the Oguaa Traditional Council and improve the facilities available for traditional and official engagements.
Speaking during the presentation, Hon. George Justice Arthur said the donation was inspired by his observations during several visits to the Palace.
According to the MCE, he noticed that the number of chairs available at the Palace was insufficient to accommodate guests during major events and official gatherings.
He further observed that many of the existing chairs were plastic chairs, which, in his view, were not befitting the status and dignity of the Palace of Osabarima Dr. Kwesi Atta, the Paramount Chief of the Oguaa Traditional Area.
He explained that the provision of the 50 chairs was therefore intended to help improve the experience of visitors and guests who attend programmes at the Palace.
Hon. George Justice Arthur also explained the reason for including two dustbins in the donation, noting that guests who visit the Palace may consume bottled or sachet water and other refreshments, making proper waste disposal facilities necessary.
He stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness at the Palace and encouraged guests and visitors to dispose of their waste properly.
Receiving the items, Osabarima Dr. Kwesi Atta expressed his appreciation to Hon. George Justice Arthur and the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly for the gesture.
He said the donation was a thoughtful gesture and welcomed the Assembly’s continued support for the Oguaa Traditional Area.
The presentation further highlights the importance of collaboration between the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly and the Oguaa Traditional Council in supporting traditional institutions and improving facilities within the traditional area.
