Bank Of Ghana Engages Over 250 Pupils In Currency Education Drive

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) on Friday opened its doors to over 250 pupils from five basic schools within the Accra Metropolis for an interactive currency education session held at the Bank Square. The initiative, part of the Bank’s financial literacy outreach, sought to enlighten the young learners on the history, significance, and security features of the Ghana Cedi.

Participating schools included Independence Avenue Basic School (1 & 2), St. George’s Anglican Basic School, Bishop Mixed Basic School, Accra Sempe School, and St. Barnabas Basic School.

Governor of the Bank, Dr. Johnson Asiama, together with his deputies Dr. Zakari Mumuni and Mrs. Matilda Asante-Asiedu, encouraged the pupils to take their studies seriously, emphasizing that they represent the future of Ghana’s economy.

He further noted that the education session was part of the Bank’s broader efforts to promote financial awareness and responsibility among the youth, ensuring that the next generation appreciates the value and history behind the nation’s currency.

The event featured a blend of learning and fun, including interactive games, music performances, and a shared lunch, creating a memorable experience for the pupils. The program concluded with an atmosphere of excitement and national pride as the young participants left inspired by the lessons on Ghana’s economic heritage.
