Last year, phenomenal Blogger and societal change advocate, Kobby Kyei started a road safety awareness campaign to educate drivers and pedestrians on the usefulness of Zebra crossing. Senior Police officer, Hajia Sa-ada Muhammed popularly known as Hajia Police is one of the influential personalities to openly supports this great initiative.
On Atinka Fm yesterday, the Police officer threw more lights on the legal implications on not respecting the said road sign. She stated emphatically that a driver hitting pedestrians on Zebra crossing is not an accident, the police describes that as ‘MURDER’ so to be at the safer side, motorists must respect the zebra crossing.

Disrespect for zebra crossing is one of the major problems on our roads which really needs to be looked at as a matter of urgency. It is so disheartening to see school children, old men and women standing at these joints, but drivers do not stop for them to cross. This campaign is gradually getting interesting results.
Aside the legal implications on drivers, the police officer believes morally, motorists must consider that the lives of others also matter. Hajia police has urged all motorists to be extremely careful on the road because these errors on the road can lead to their imprisonment and other punishments.
