Aduana FC CEO vows to win the MTN FA Cup in honor of the late Dominic Frimpong

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), of Aduana Football Club, Collins Atta Poku, has made a solemn promise of winning the 2025/26 MTN FA Cup title in honor of the late Dominic Frimpong.

The Dormaa-based outfit is in the semi-final of the competition as they gear up to face Nations FC at the Swedru Sports Stadium on Friday, April 17.

Aduana Football Club will be making their second appearance in the semis after their last spot came during the 2021/22 season, where they lost 3-2 to Bechem United.

Speaking ahead of the much-anticipated game, Atta Poku says the club is poised with purpose to lift up the title, adding that it will be achieved to honor their loanee Dominic Frimpong, who tragically died from a gunshot during a robbery attack.

According to him, before his unfortunate demise, Dominic jokingly told him to part ways with the players if they fail to emerge winners of the FA Cup.

“We want to win the MTN FA Cup in honor of the late Dominic Frimpong. Before his passing, he jokingly sent me a voice note saying that if Aduana FC don’t win the FA Cup, I should sack all the players. We have to do it for him,” he told MO TV in an interview.

Dominic Frimpong was playing for Berekum Chelsea on loan from Aduana Football Club before he passed away following an armed robbery attack on the team bus after their Ghana Premier League match against FC Samartex last Sunday.

The incident occurred on the Bibiani–Goaso road at Ahyiresu, where armed men reportedly opened fire on the bus, forcing players and officials to flee for safety.

Frimpong sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was later pronounced dead at Bibiani Government Hospital.

He was one of the club’s promising performers this season, scoring two goals in 13 league appearances.
