500 Young Women Receive Free Instant Business Registration Under GEA’s BizBox Project

The Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation through the BizBox Project has provided free instant business registration to 500 young women as part of efforts to promote entrepreneurship and formalize women-owned businesses across the country

The initiative targets women between the ages of 18 and 35, providing them with instant and free registration services to help formalize their Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Enterprises Agency, Iddrisu D. Mahmoud, speaking at the registration exercise, officials described the programme as a major step towards empowering young women to build sustainable businesses and create employment opportunities.

He noted that business registration is a critical first step in enabling entrepreneurs to operate legally, improve credibility, and compete for contracts and investment opportunities.

Mr. Mahmoud explained that formalizing businesses opens doors to numerous opportunities, including access to financing, government support programmes, business development services, capacity-building initiatives and wider markets.

Some participants who spoke to Atinka News expressed appreciation to the Ghana Enterprises Agency and its partners, describing the initiative as timely and impactful.
