Member of Parliament for Upper Denkyira West in the Central Region, Hon. Rudolf Amoako Gyampah, has expressed his deep devastation upon hearing of the tragic military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight prominent Ghanaians.
The victims included Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, three senior government officials, and three distinguished flight officers of the Ghana Air Force.

Hon. Gyampah described the news as “extremely devastating,” stating, “This is not the news we wanted to hear on a Wednesday like this.”
He extended his sincerest condolences to President John Dramani Mahama, Parliament of Ghana, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and the bereaved families, acknowledging the sacrifices made by the victims in service to their nation.
The helicopter crash has sparked widespread grief and tributes from key institutions, traditional authorities, faith-based organizations, and civil society.
President Mahama has declared a three-day national mourning period, with flags flown at half-mast and solemn ceremonies held nationwide.
A state funeral is scheduled for the victims on August 15 at Black Star Square.
The nation comes together to mourn the loss of these influential individuals, reflecting on their contributions to Ghana’s development and security.
As the country pays its respects, the investigation into the crash continues, with the recovery of the black box providing critical insights into the incident.
