Black Wednesday! Ghanaians In Tears As Ministers Of State, Military Officers Burnt To Ashes.

Ghana’s Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, and Environment Minister, Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, have tragically lost their lives in a military helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region. The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, en route to Obuasi.

According to Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, who made the official announcement at a press briefing at the Jubilee House, a total of eight people were on board the helicopter, with six others confirmed dead, including a National Vice Chair of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Samuel Sarpong.

The helicopter crash has sent shockwaves across the nation, with the nation paying tribute to the late ministers.

The nation is in mourning, with all national flags being flown at half-mast in honour of Dr. Omane Boamah and Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is currently underway.
