The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) is set to recruit 12,000 young, qualified Ghanaians in a massive nationwide enlistment drive over the next four years, a move aimed at enhancing national security and tackling youth unemployment.
In a bold and strategic move to empower the nation’s youth and strengthen the country’s security framework, the Ghana Armed Forces has announced plans to recruit 12,000 young Ghanaians over a four-year period.
The initiative, which has received the full endorsement of President John Dramani Mahama, will provide thousands with the opportunity to serve their country while building professional and personal discipline.
Speaking on the plan, the Defence Minister emphasized that the recruitment is part of a long-term national development and security strategy aimed at both employment creation and military readiness.
“Over the next four years, the Ghana Armed Forces will open its doors to 12,000 of our nation’s youth,” he said. “This is not just a job opportunity—it is a call to serve with honor and commitment.”
A former Ministry of Defence staff member from the 37 Military Hospital also shared insights and advice for potential applicants
“Stay fit and medically ready. The training is not for the faint-hearted. You’ll be expected to abandon all forms of normal life. Some recruits haven’t survived it. But if you prepare properly, it’s a life-changing journey.”
The upcoming recruitment drive is expected to roll out in phases, and prospective applicants are encouraged to remain alert for official announcements on application dates and requirements.
