Finance Minister, Cassie Ato Forson has been appointed as member of the new Board of Directors for Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD).
In a post following his inauguration, Forson congratulated his fellow board members, led by Chairman Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, and expressed confidence in the board’s ability to revive the fortunes of Ghana’s cocoa sector.
Forson acknowledged the challenges facing COCOBOD but emphasized the potential for growth and recovery.
He highlighted the government’s initiative to acquire 200 hectares of land for plantation farms, aiming to complement smallholder farmers’ efforts and restore production to 1 million metric tonnes.

As a member of the board, Forson assured the Ministry of Finance’s full support in repositioning COCOBOD as a cornerstone of Ghana’s economic recovery and growth agenda.
He expressed determination to rebuild and reclaim cocoa’s rightful place in the economy, emphasizing the sector’s importance to Ghana’s heritage and livelihoods.
