The Pastor Emmanuel Mefful Foundation has wrapped up its annual free breast cancer awareness campaign after providing free medical examinations for over hundreds of local residents.
The one-week program, which began on Monday, October 12, and ended on Sunday, October 18, under the Pink October Month, saw over hundreds of residents across seven zones in Ashaiman screened and examined.
The train set off at the Jericho Station on Monday before moving to Taifa and Lebanon Zone 2 on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
Residents at Zongo Laka, Nii Amui, and Official Town also had their share from Thursday before climaxing it at Old Tulaku on Sunday.
Led by founder Pastor Emmanuel Mefful and the Ashaiman First initiative, the intensive seven-day outreach was aimed at breaking the stigma surrounding the disease and promoting early detection.
Also, to raise awareness about breast cancer while encouraging both genders to prioritize early screening.
Speaking during one of the daily sessions, Pastor Mefful emphasized the importance of the foundation and its readiness to support residents in Ashaiman.
According to him, the development of Ashaiman remains a priority; hence, through the Pastor Emmanuel Mefful Foundation, people will see a new Ashaiman.
Pastor Mefful added that the foundation has been running for years in women’s empowerment, skills development, sports development, and entrepreneurship and business training.
“The foundation is here to support the less privileged in the community. Breast cancer has become a big problem for women, and here in Ashaiman, most people have little information about that. Every year we will educate people on the importance of having your breast screened,” he said.
Beneficiaries who thronged the various centers to get screened and examined lauded the reserved philanthropist for his generosity.
A man who spoke on condition of anonymity described the entire process as stress-free, adding that he did not pay any money to be treated.
Another woman who also spoke on condition of anonymity was full of praise for the Pastor Emmanuel Mefful Foundation, urging him to continue to serve the good people of Ashaiman and not be held back.
Pastor Emmanuel Mefful, a businessman and philanthropist, is among four others who are in tight contention to win the parliamentary candidate seat on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ashaiman.
