We have enough quality to beat Liberia and make the World Cup – Black Maidens coach Joe Adarkwah

Head coach of Ghana’s female U17 team (Black Maidens), Nana Joe Adarkwah, says his side has enough qualities do a walkover against Liberia in their second round of qualifiers and qualify for the World Cup.

The Maidens recorded an impressive 8-0 aggregate over Togo in the first round, smashing the Hawks 6-0 in Accra and achieving a 2-0 victory in Togo to progress to the next round.

Ghana will now lock horns with Liberia in a fierce showdown of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifier slated for May 22-24 in Accra for the first leg, with the return fixture fixed for May 29-31 in Monrovia.

Speaking after the demolition exercise last Sunday, Head Coach Joe Nana Adarkwah reaffirmed his belief in the girls, lauding their performance as well as the substitutes’ on the bench.

According to him, the substitutes who played their part in the second department of the game proved their worth, a testament to the quality of the entire team.

He stressed that the focus is to qualify for the World Cup, which will be played later this year in Morocco, adding that he strongly believes his ladies will deliver.

“You watched the game yourself, and you know the quality of team we have. Players who joined from the bench, like Lydia, the Army Ladies’ player, performed well. I can boast of a strong bench, so there shouldn’t be any fears. We will beat Liberia and progress to the next round, and we are ready for the World Cup,” he said.

After missing out on two editions of the FIFA Women’s U17 World Cup due to a two-year ban by CAF for age fraud, Ghana will be hoping to return to the world stage since 2022.
