NDC officials seek removal of Ebenezer Aidoo amid allegations of mismanagement

Some executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ahanta West have petitioned President John Dramani Mahama to remove the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Ebenezer Aidoo, over allegations of misconduct and mismanagement.

The petition outlines claims that the MCE locked the Municipal Assembly Hall to prevent a scheduled meeting, bypassed key party executives and elected representatives in decision-making, and allegedly engaged in activities linked to illegal mining despite publicly opposing it.

Petitioners also accuse him of using security personnel in controversial operations involving intimidation and suspected extortion, as well as making unsubstantiated allegations against traditional leaders, which have strained community relations.

The executives warn that failure to address these issues could damage party unity and hamper development efforts in the municipality. They are urging President Mahama to invoke constitutional provisions to revoke the MCE’s appointment.

In response, the Ahanta West Municipal Assembly has distanced itself from the petition. A statement signed by the Presiding Member said internal misunderstandings with the MCE had been resolved through dialogue, and Assembly members reaffirmed their support for his leadership.

No official response has yet been issued by the Presidency, and the matter continues to spark debate within local political and community circles.
