Police Arrest 10 Suspects Linked To Viral Video Abusing Two Women In Dawuranpong

The Ghana Police Service has arrested ten individuals captured in a disturbing viral video physically assaulting and abusing two young women at Dawuranpong. The arrests were carried out by the Inspector General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team, following widespread public outrage and demands for justice.

According to police reports, three of the suspects — Eric Donkor, popularly known as Killer Block, aged 32; Yaw Gyimah, 29; and Edmond Nartey, 24 — were among those noticeably seen in the footage inflicting brutal physical harm on the victims. In the video, the women were pinned down, slapped, and had sharp blades forcefully used on their scalps, leaving them bleeding and traumatized.

One key suspect, identified as Tawiah Awaga, who was clearly seen cutting through one of the victims’ scalp with a razor blade, is currently on the run. A manhunt has been launched to ensure his swift arrest and prosecution.

Seven additional suspects — Steven Amu, 24; Farouk Balas, 18; Mensah Bernard, 18; Adu Baggeo, 23; Bismark Nyarko, 30; Akwesi Poku George, 18; and Oteng Alfred, 23 — were also arrested for various roles, including aiding, abetting, restraining the victims, filming the act, or encouraging the assault rather than intervening.

Police say preliminary investigations reveal the attack was deliberate, coordinated, and unjustifiable, with no immediate threat or wrongdoing attributed to the victims. Authorities have since condemned the barbaric incident, describing it as a grave violation of human rights and Ghana’s criminal codes.

The Police Administration has assured the public that the victims are receiving medical care, psychological support, and further assistance to aid their recovery. Social welfare officers and clinical professionals are reportedly working closely with them to ensure their safety and wellbeing.

Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police has reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to protecting vulnerable citizens, stating that such acts of mob injustice, gender-based violence, and inhumane treatment will not be tolerated. The suspects are expected to face prosecution after ongoing investigations are completed.

The police are calling on the public to assist with information leading to the arrest of the remaining fugitive suspect, urging community members not to shield perpetrators of such violent acts.

The incident has sparked national conversations about abuse, victim protection, mob culture, and the responsibilities of bystanders in preventing violence. Advocacy groups and social media users continue to demand accountability, justice, and stronger deterrent measures.

More updates are expected as the case progresses.
