Hon. Mercer, Akwasi Agyeman, Abeiku Santana, Others Represents Ghana At 6th Africa Youth In Tourism Innovation Summit

Ghana actively participates in the 6th Africa Youth in Tourism Innovation Summit (AYTISC 2024) which kicked off formally today in Windhoek, Namibia. The event is a pan-African Youth and Tourism start-ups Summit & Innovation Challenge that provides a transformative platform for African Youth, start-ups, entrepreneurs, students, and small enterprises to learn, share ideas and create partnerships.

Hon. Andrew Egyapa Mercer, Minister for the Ministry of Tourism, Arts And Culture was on the Ministerial and Policy Makers dialogue panel that explored how they could “advance the voices of young women in travel, tourism and tech entrepreneurs and leadership – challenges, opportunities and solutions”.

The CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Mr. Akwasi Agyeman is attending the Summit as a Speaker to share Ghanaian insights with African youth. He is accompanied by Mr. Sadat Abari, a Marketing Officer. Other private sector speakers include CEO of Kaya Tours Ghana, Mr. Abeiku Santana, CEO of Adansi Travels, @Gideon Asare, and Prof. Kobby Mensah of the University of Ghana Business School who are all taking turns to share their stories and experiences with the African youth.

Ghanaian start-up company Fihankra ComTech LLC is also in attendance pitching for funding in the Challenge for their new and innovative personal safety platform.

Ghanaians seem to dominate at this year’s event with the Co-founder of Afrofuture, Ken Agyapong Jnr. also attending as a virtual Speaker

This 3-day annual event which is organised by the Africa Tourism Partners in partnership with the UNWTO and being hosted for the 3rd consecutive year by the Namibia Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism is expected to end on May 31, 2024.

It is being attended by some 250 in-person delegates with over 1500 virtual participants from across the continent and the globe. attendees including Ministers, tourism officials, policymakers, SMMES, start-ups, students, entrepreneurs and government officials from Africa and the rest of world.
