President Nana Akufo-Addo has heavily criticized former President John Mahama over his proposed 24-hour economy policy.
According to President Akufo-Addo, Mahama’s failure to provide a clear roadmap for implementing the policy raises serious concerns about its feasibility and potential impact on the economy.
President Akufo-Addo questioned Mahama’s commitment to the policy, citing the power crisis that occurred during his presidency.
This, he believes, undermines Mahama’s ability to successfully implement a 24-hour economy.
Furthermore, President Akufo-Addo attributed Mahama’s defeat in the 2016 elections to his poor performance in government.
This, he argues, is a clear indication that Ghanaians have lost trust in Mahama’s ability to lead the country.
President Akufo-Addo’s criticism of Mahama’s 24-hour economy policy highlights the need for a comprehensive and well-thought-out plan to drive economic growth and development in Ghana.
According to John Dramani Mahama, this approach will be key to transforming the Ghanaian economy and securing long-term prosperity for the nation.
The former president has stated emphatically that, the 24-hour Economy policy promises to generate a wide range of benefits, including the creation of decent, sustainable, and well-paying jobs.
“To complement the existing labour law, an Employment Act that sets up a regulatory framework for a 24-hour economy will be passed in consultation with organised labour, AGI, and other stakeholders. We shall promote a good work ethic to ensure efficiency in the already existing 8-hour work schedule and new additional work shifts in public organisations.”
“An Accelerated Export Development Authority (AEDA) chaired by the President will be established to promote exports under the 24-hour Economy strategy,” he said in a statement on his official website.
