President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed Ghana’s longstanding diplomatic ties with the State of Palestine, describing the relationship as one built on “mutual respect and cooperation.”
He made the remarks during a ceremony to present humanitarian relief items to the people of Palestine amid the ongoing crisis in the region.
“The images and stories emerging from the conflict zone particularly the suffering of innocent civilians, especially women and children are heartbreaking,” President Mahama said.
“They are a painful reminder that behind every headline and statistic are human lives, people who long for peace, dignity and hope.”
In a symbolic gesture of solidarity, Ghana is donating approximately 40 metric tonnes of premium, Ghana-made chocolate and cocoa-based products under the distinguished Golden Tree brand to support the Palestinian people.

The donation, he noted, reflects both Ghana’s compassion and its commitment to global humanitarian efforts.
“The Government of Ghana is pleased to extend this humanitarian donation to the people of the State of Palestine,” Mahama said, emphasizing that the contribution not only showcases Ghana’s famed cocoa products but also stands as a message of empathy and unity during difficult times.
President Mahama reiterated that Ghana and Palestine have enjoyed a “longstanding and cordial relationship,” which continues to shape the country’s foreign policy and humanitarian outreach.
The donation is expected to be delivered through diplomatic channels and international aid organizations working on the ground in Gaza and other affected areas.
