Executive director of the Economic And Organized Crime Office — EOCO, Maame Tiwaa Addo-Danqwah has said that online safety should be a major priority for every parent as we fight the issue of missing children and cyber bully across the world.
The rate at which children gets missing recently is heartbreaking. Moreover, many children gets bullied on the internet almost everyday which also affects their mental health and for this reason, all hands must be on deck to curb this societal problem.
Speaking at this year’s international missing children day celebration organized by Missing Children Ghana — an organization dedicated for issues of missing children and their reintegration, Maame Tiwaa Addo-Danquah who was the chairperson of this great event held at the Marriott Hotel emphasized that, it should be a majority priority.
In her short but extremely insightful and inspiring speech, she emphasized that in this technological era, parents must pay attention to their children online activities because it is becoming a major factor for the rapid rate of missing children across the world.
“We can protect our children by making online safety a priority. The internet provides all the positive things but it also has it negative ones, whiles we focus on the positive ones let’s also be mindful of the negative things associated with the internet. Online safety should be every Parent’s priority” she said.
She commended Regina Asamoah, the brain behind Missing Children Ghana and all her partners for such a great initiative to ensure that there is always peace and joy in our homes and in the entire society.
According to her, she is passionate and emotionally attached to issues of missing children and so she implore to the general public and the authorities to help Regina do more.
“When it comes to issues of missing children, I have emotional attachment to it due to my personal experience and that of others. I am so passionate about the work my sister Regina is doing” she said.
Missing children Ghana has been in existence since 2021 and the impacts so far is mind boggling. Aside reintegrating lots of children who got missing, the team has also been visiting school and other places to educate children and parents on this societal problem.
