Saddick Adams Slams Ghana Armed Forces Over The Sales Of Recruitment Forms

In the wake of the tragic incident at the El-Wak Sports Stadium that led to the death of six ladies during the Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise, the host of Angel FM morning show, Saddick Adams, has called out the Ghana military for what he describes as a “scandalous and exploitative” practice, the sale of recruitment forms.

In a strongly worded post on social media, Saddick Adams questioned the rationale behind the continued sale of recruitment forms at GHS 350 each, especially in 2025 when digital systems and online recruitment procedures could easily replace such outdated and costly measures.

“After serious investigations into these unfortunate deaths, we have to come back to a more critical but scandalous practice that I raised on Monday. Why on earth is the Ghana military selling forms at GHS 350 to persons wanting to serve in the army? In 2025?” he wrote.

The celebrated broadcaster further revealed that, according to reports, the Ghana Armed Forces sold over 90,000 recruitment forms last year, despite having only a limited number of available slots. This, he noted, means the institution generated over GHS 31.5 million (approximately $3 million) from the sale of forms alone, a practice he described as taking advantage of Ghana’s struggling unemployed youth.

“Has it become an avenue to fleece the already vulnerable unemployed? We should be more concerned about the plight of our people instead of feeding on their desperation,” he added.

Saddick Adams passionately argued that the sale of forms should be scrapped immediately, calling on the government and the Ministry of Defence to take urgent action. He proposed that the cost of recruitment exercises be incorporated into the national defense budget instead of burdening desperate job seekers who are only seeking an opportunity to serve their country.

“The sale of forms should be scrapped with immediate effect. Such costs should be incorporated into the Armed Forces budget. The same goes for other security services. We are too wicked as people!” he lamented.

His comments come at a time when public outrage continues to mount following the stampede at the El-Wak Sports Stadium, where several potential recruits lost their lives and many others sustained injuries due to overcrowding and poor organization during the military recruitment process.
