Army Ladies opened their season with a late 2-1 victory over Epiphany Warriors at the Madina AstroTurf on Friday.
The 2023/24 Women’s FA Cup winners continued their dominance over Epiphany Warriors, having defeated the side twice last season.
It was Army Ladies who opened the score in the 11th minute when Vera Bema dinked the ball over Safiatu Salifu to put Army Ladies in the lead, as that was the only goal to separate both teams going into the first half break.
Back from recess, Epiphany Warriors came close, but the effort from Leticia Dawaa missed closely.
With pressure being mounted on the visitors, Epiphany Warriors responded well minutes later to level the score in the 70th minute.
Faustina Tiwaa chipped the ball over the Army goalkeeper following a free ball inside the penalty area.
When all looked like a draw game, Esther Asamoah Yiadom broke the hearts of the home side with her 82nd-minute goal.
The substitute dummied her marker to slot one past goalie Salifu Safiatu to win the game for Army Ladies.
