Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo has shed light on his decision to commit his long-term future to Bournemouth, signing a new five-year contract extension that will keep him at the Vitality Stadium until 2030, despite attracting significant interest from Premier League heavyweights.
The 25-year-old’s decision comes as a surprise to many, particularly given the caliber of clubs that had expressed interest in his services.
Manchester United, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur were all reportedly keen on securing the talented winger’s signature during the summer transfer window, with Bournemouth valuing him at an impressive £70 million.

Speaking exclusively to Sky Sports Premier League following the announcement of his contract extension, Semenyo emphasized the personal growth and development he has experienced at the south coast club.
“I’ve grown so much at the club, both on and off the pitch, and I’m really happy to have signed ahead of returning for pre-season,” the former Bristol City player explained.
The Ghanaian international’s loyalty to Bournemouth appears rooted in the strong relationships he has built within the organization.
“From the fans to the staff and my teammates, I can’t speak highly enough of the people around the club,” Semenyo told Sky Sports Premier League, highlighting the family atmosphere that has influenced his decision.
His commitment comes on the back of an outstanding 2024-25 campaign where he emerged as one of Bournemouth’s key performers.
Semenyo contributed 13 goals and seven assists across all competitions, playing a pivotal role in helping the Cherries achieve their highest-ever Premier League points tally and secure a joint-record ninth-place finish.
The timing of this extension is particularly significant, coming just one year after Semenyo had already signed a five-year deal with Bournemouth.
This latest commitment demonstrates the mutual satisfaction between player and club, with both parties eager to continue their successful partnership.
Bournemouth’s determination to retain their prized asset was evident in their hefty valuation, which effectively deterred potential suitors despite the player’s obvious talent and market appeal. The club’s investment in Semenyo reflects their ambitious project under manager Andoni Iraola.
Looking ahead to the new season, Semenyo expressed his enthusiasm about returning to action. “It’s a great place to be and I’m excited to get back to Bournemouth and continue the hard work with the new season just around the corner,” he concluded in his interview with Sky Sports Premier League.
Since joining from Bristol City in January 2023, Semenyo has made 89 appearances for Bournemouth, netting 22 goals and establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s most promising talents.
His decision to stay demonstrates that sometimes, the grass isn’t always greener elsewhere, particularly when a player finds the perfect environment for continued development and success.
