Ghana National Household Registry Trains Information Officers On Data Collection

The Ghana National Household Registry (GNHR) on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, held a one-day workshop for Information Officers of the Information Services Department from Nine(9) Regions at Miklin Hotel in the Ashanti Region.

The focus of the workshop was on the effective dissemination of information on the household data collection project.

Dr Richard Adjetey, Head of the GNHR project, noted in his address that the workshop is aimed at equipping Information Officers with the necessary skills to accurately communicate information about the GNHR household data collection project and its role in social protection programs to the public, particularly regarding identifying vulnerable households.

He said the collection of data on the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) reassessment and GNHR household is one of the IMF’s conditionalities, and the Registry has up to the 31st July, 2025, to finish with the data collection; otherwise, Ghana will lose $350 million.

Mr. Adjetey commended the Officers of the Information Services Department for a good job on Information dissemination on the projects so far.

He reiterated that the workshop was part of the GNHR’s ongoing efforts to improve data collection and dissemination practices, ensuring that accurate and relevant information reaches the communities selected for the enumeration.

Dr Nafisa Mahama, Acting Director of ISD, urged her officers to work hard as they play a crucial role in interacting with the public and disseminating information to the masses on the government’s flagship programmes and policies.

GNHR is a unit within the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection with the responsibility to create a single national household register to support social protection programmes.

The workshop was part of a larger initiative by the GNHR to strengthen its data collection and dissemination processes across various regions in the country.
