Atinka FM Survives The Storm: Celebrates 10 Years Of Impactful Storytelling.

The media landscape in Ghana is a very challenging one — it requires lots of toughness, hard-work, professionalism, consistency, discipline, commitment and investment to survive. Many popped up but could not stand the heat and pressure.

Atinka 104.7 Fm, mother platform of the Tobinco Media Group, has marked its 10th anniversary with a grand celebration in Accra.

The milestone event brought together industry stakeholders, sponsors, past and present staff, and loyal listeners to reflect on the station’s journey and impact over the years.

Addressing the gathering, the Managing Director of Tobinco Media Group, Madam Ekuba Yankey, expressed gratitude for the station’s decade-long success.

“Building and sustaining a media house for 10 years is no small feat. It has taken dedication, resilience, and divine guidance,” – she noted.

She thanked the station’s leadership led by the CEO, Chancellor Elder Dr. Samuel Amo Tobbin, staff and audience for their unwavering support, emphasizing that Atinka FM’s success is a collective achievement.

The Head of Radio, Albert Johnson (Odefour Di Asa Papa), recounted Atinka FM’s humble beginnings, highlighting its transformation into one of Ghana’s most respected radio brands.

“We started with many competitors, but today, we stand tall. Through it all, our foundation has been strong—rooted in excellence and service to the people. God is our Pillar.”- he remarked.

Atinka FM initially began operations at Ashaiman Mataheko, later relocated to Kokomlemle before settling at its current base at Avenor Junction.

Over the years, the station has grown exponentially, giving rise to four additional sister stations under the Tobinco Media Group — Atinka TV, Agyenkwa FM in Kumasi, Ahotor FM in Takoradi and Bullet TV in Accra.

“Atinka FM has played a crucial role in Ghana’s media landscape, providing a platform for brands to thrive and contributing significantly to national development. This is just the beginning—we have even bigger plans for the future,” – Odefour assured.

As part of the celebrations, the station acknowledged the contributions of key personalities who were instrumental in shaping its success. Among those recognized were:

Kwame Adinkra, who led the morning Show Team, Kofi Asare Brako (Abatey) who led the Sports Team, Odefour Di Asa who led the Entertainment Team, Jerry Tsatro Mordy who also led the News Team.
The event was attended by sponsors, managers, staff—both past and present—and dedicated listeners.

The Ghana Armed Forces Band provided live music, adding to the festive atmosphere. Guests were treated to food, drinks and moments of nostalgia as they celebrated the station’s remarkable journey.

“This success belongs to everyone who has supported Atinka FM from day one. We are grateful and look forward to an even greater future,” Ekuba Yankey stated.

She also applauded the Executive Chairman of the Tobinco Media Group, Chancellor Dr. Nana Amo Tobbin, along with his beautiful wife, Mrs. Araba Sika Tobbin, and their children, Abigail Tobbin and Jedidaya Tobbin, for their unwavering commitment to transforming Ghana’s media landscape.
