Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III, 91, Passes Away

The Ashanti Kingdom is in mourning following the death of Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who reigned with grace and influence for eight years until her passing at the age of 91.

The Asante Kingdom has been plunged into grief following the passing of the revered Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

Her death was formally confirmed by the Oyoko Royal Family to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, during an emergency Asanteman Traditional Council meeting held on Monday, August 11, 2025.

As the second most powerful figure in the Ashanti Kingdom, Nana Konadu Yiadom III was a custodian of tradition, a symbol of unity, and a guiding matriarch for Asanteman.

Ascending to the throne in 2017, she served for eight years, providing wise counsel to the Asantehene and playing a pivotal role in preserving the rich heritage of the Ashanti people.

Her reign was marked by dedication to cultural preservation, the empowerment of women, and the fostering of harmony within the kingdom.

Her passing leaves a void not only in the royal court but also in the hearts of the people of Asanteman, who revered her as a mother figure.

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the Asanteman Traditional Council in the coming days, as the kingdom begins preparations to honor her remarkable legacy.
