Prior to the presentation ceremony later this year, the nominees for the 8th EMY (Exclusive Men of the Year) Africa Awards’ competitive categories were revealed on Sunday (July 16).
The program, now in its ninth year, honors notable individuals who make a difference in society throughout the creative arts, business, media, technology, sports, and health industries. The occasion also honors and presents complimentary awards to women whose heroic efforts have improved society. Kojo Soboh, the founder and executive director of EMY Africa, announced during the nomination announcement event that the organization will host a soiree in Lagos, Nigeria, in August as part of preparations for this year’s awards.
King Promise, a highlife and afrobeats singer; Camidoh, a singer-songwriter and performer; Black Sherif, a sensational rapper; and KiDi, a debonair crooner and performer made the nominee list for achieving landmark success with crossover hits and standout tours in the year under review. The musicians from Ghana are competing in the “Man Of The Year-Music” category.
Winners of the honorary awards, which include those for Man of the Year, Woman of the Year, Magnate Award, Humanitarian Award, Young Achiever Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, Diasporan Award, Continental Icon Award, The Technology Award, Woman of the Year, The Guardian Award, Health Award, and Agriculture Award, will be announced and honored at the main awards ceremony.
