In a press release by the Ghana Police Service, a 25-year-old man, Samuel Kolie, who robbed a woman at dawn in Millennium City, has been convicted and sentenced to 14 years in prison, following swift action by the Central East Regional Police Command.
Kolie Samuel was found guilty on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, after he admitted to robbing a female victim near Golden Pride Preparatory School in Gomoa East.
The robbery, which happened in the early hours of the day around 5:30 am on July 10, saw the victim lose her iPhone 16 Pro Max and a purse with an unspecified amount of money.
According to the press statement, Kolie was apprehended the same day after a joint effort between investigators and the victim helped locate his hideout in Ngleshie Amanfrom, a suburb of Accra.
A search at the scene uncovered not only the stolen iPhone but a surprising haul of gadgets and valuables.
Some items retrieved included two laptops, five mobile phones of different brands, two pairs of AirPods, three wristwatches, a gold necklace, a ladies’ purse, and a wallet containing a health insurance card in another person’s name.
Investigators also found ten memory cards believed to contain data from other robberies.
The press statement indicates Kolie was quickly put before the Ofankor Circuit Court, where he pleaded guilty to charges of robbery and causing harm.
The court handed him a 14-year sentence for robbery and 5 years for causing harm. Both sentences will run concurrently.
The Central East Regional Police Command has assured the public of its firm commitment to protecting lives and property.
DSP Victor Kofi Dosoo, Head of Public Affairs, noted that the conviction should send a clear message to criminals that the law will catch up with them.
“The Central East Regional Police command remains resolute in its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the public by bringing perpetrators of such crimes to face the full rigors of the law.”
