The Member of Parliament for Upper Denkyira West District, Hon. Rudolf Amoako-Gyampah, delivered a compelling speech at the Diplomatic Envoy United Nations Model Conference in Accra, Ghana.
The conference focused on Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6), which aims to ensure clean water and sanitation for all.
Hon. Amoako-Gyampah emphasized that access to clean water and proper sanitation are essential human rights, key to public health, well-being, and sustainable development.
He highlighted the challenges faced by many Ghanaians, particularly in rural areas, where access to safe drinking water and proper sanitation facilities remains a significant concern.
The MP stressed the importance of community-led approaches, involving local stakeholders, to ensure that solutions are sustainable and culturally relevant.
Hon. Amoako-Gyampah called on all stakeholders, including NGOs, governments, and private sector entities, to scale up investment in water and sanitation initiatives.
“Access to clean water and proper sanitation are essential human rights and must be protected. We must reassess our commitment and strengthen our resolve to ensure that everyone has access to clean water and sanitation. Together, we can create a ripple effect of positive change and build a future where clean water and sanitation are prioritized”
Dr. Miguel Pinzon, President of the Diplomatic Envoy Global Organisation also highlighted the critical link between diplomacy, peacebuilding and environmental sustainability.
He called on global leaders to move beyond rhetoric and show tangible commitment to ensuring access to clean water and sanitation for all.
