The President of the Old Achimotan Association (OAA), Joel E. Nettey has urged Ghanaians on the importance of giving back to the society.
Speaking during the 98th Achimota School Founders’ Day Durbar on Saturday, March 8, 2025, Mr. Nettey congratulated the 1975 and 1985 year groups on their 50th and 40th anniversaries, respectively, and thanked them for their contributions, including their support for the school’s science labs as a legacy project.
He also highlighted the 2000 Year Group’s 25th anniversary celebrations, noting their organization of the Torchlight Procession and Speech and Prize-Giving Day, along with their commitment to building an 18-unit classroom block for the school.
This year’s Founders’ Day theme, “An Enduring Legacy: Excellence, Discipline and Character at Achimota,” was a key point in Nettey’s speech.
He underscored the significance of these values, not only for Achimota but for the nation of Ghana, emphasizing that the core principles instilled in Achimota students—excellence, discipline, and character—play a crucial role in building a prosperous and united country.
Mr. Nettey also called on all Akoras to support the school through the Achimota School Endowment Trust (ASET) Fund, especially as the school approaches its centenary celebration in less than two years.
He urged Akoras to continue contributing to the legacy of Achimota School for future generations.
Mr. Nettey wished the Headmaster, staff, students, and all celebrating year groups a Happy Founders’ Day, reiterating his gratitude to the Achimota community for their unwavering support.
