The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ashaiman, Dr. Ernest Henry Norgbey, says he has launched many road projects, which will be constructed within a space of time, adding that soon the entire constituency will become a construction site.
According to him, it is very prudent for people to know that any road construction project should be accompanied by drainage systems, emphasizing that Ashaiman is under road construction, but contractors must ensure the drains are completed before the F1 begins.
Addressing the media in Ashaiman at his office on Wednesday, Hon. Norgbey provided updates and progress, saying there are lots of drainage systems happening in the Lebanon enclaves, noting that they must be done before the asphalt surfacing.
He added that Official Town and the entire Christian Village have seen a facelift of construction, including Fitterline through to the Middle East, which are all seeing facelifts.
Dr. Norgbey assured that soon all these areas will have their roads either asphalted or bitumen, which will become motorable for everyone.
The lawmaker mentioned that contractors on site in Lebanon, when done, will move down to Night Market to fix all the inner roads.
Speaking on the road patching from Presby Junction to Police Junction, which constituents are highly against, Hon. Norgbey argued that the potholes must first be filled before advancing it with bitumen.
He added that contractors are on-site working on the Afariwa stretch down to Newtown Junction.
Although the work has been slow, which he reported to the Ministry for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza assured actions will be taken against the contractor because he was awarded a contract to work on the roadway.
The outspoken parliamentarian stated that Newtown Junction will have a mini roundabout, which has already been negotiated with the relevant people.
He explained that the main road from Traffic Light down to Katamanso in the Kpone-Katamanso Constituency has been awarded to a contractor who has delayed commencing work with no tangible reason.
He emphasized that it is the reason why no single work has been done on that route, adding that even if he grades the road, it will be of no benefit because the contractor will definitely come to the site.
“Initially I wanted to do the pavement like what we did at Newtown Junction, but the place will become dilapidated after some few months when you fix it. Because it has been awarded, we are waiting for the contractor to come and navigate that particular stretch, so by and large there is a lot of work ongoing,” he concluded.
