On 26th February 2026, The Dei Foundation implemented a transformative educational support initiative at Aveyiborme M/A Basic School in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region, Ghana. The project, titled Donation of School Uniforms and Bags, was designed to address pressing material needs among vulnerable pupils while restoring dignity and confidence within the school community.
At Aveyiborme M/A Basic School, many pupils attend classes despite significant economic hardships that limit their access to basic educational necessities. For some children, the absence of a proper school uniform, school bag, or essential learning materials creates barriers that affect their self-esteem, classroom participation, and even regular attendance.

Recognizing that these challenges extend beyond material deprivation to issues of dignity and belonging, The Dei Foundation developed a targeted intervention aimed at fostering inclusion and hope.
On the day of the outreach, the Foundation successfully delivered:
• 74 brand-new school uniforms for pupils in need
• 12 school bags provided through a strategic partnership with Boys Lives Matter by Kobby Kyei

The event brought together education authorities, community leaders, teachers, parents, and pupils in a collective celebration of support and empowerment. The atmosphere was marked by gratitude and renewed optimism for the learners’ future.
While the donation met urgent needs, it also revealed deeper structural challenges affecting the school’s learning environment. Among the critical issues identified were:
• Lack of access to potable drinking water
• Poor sanitation infrastructure, including the absence of dust bins and recycling facilities
• Inadequate classroom desks
• Shortage of school shoes and bags
• Absence of a sick bay or clinic for basic healthcare support

The impact of the initiative was both visible and meaningful. Pupils who previously felt self-conscious about their appearance experienced renewed confidence and a stronger sense of belonging. Teachers observed increased classroom engagement and motivation toward learning, while parents expressed appreciation for the support provided.
The intervention also helped reduce the stigma often associated with the inability to afford uniforms and essential school items. Beyond the material donation, it strengthened community trust in The Dei Foundation’s commitment to educational equity.
